Houston Back on Track Recognizes National Education Day
Today is National Higher Education Day, and we are working with our Houston Back on Track community partners to motivate and inspire students to complete post-secondary education at universities, community colleges and vocational and technical schools. These programs offer advantages that make you stand out from other job seekers, increasing your earning potential and providing more opportunities for career growth.
Financial stress and time for classwork are the primary obstacles students face in furthering their education. To address these challenges, our community partners connect Houstonians with resources to get started. Three community partners, Memorial Assistance Ministries, Wesley Community Center and Houston Area Urban League, provide a range of classes, scholarship programs and financial assistance.
MAM offers personalized coaching to help clients identify careers to match their skills. Through MAM's employment services, you can improve your soft skills, polish your resume and attend Certified Nursing Assistant and Electrocardiography (ECG) Telemetry Technician certifications.
The Wesley Community Center also offers students access to programs in the healthcare field. Here, you will be supported throughout your education by a robust support system with possible scholarships and a dedicated team of coaches. The team includes an employment coach, financial coach, case manager and retention coach who guide you along your journey.
A third partner, HAUL, offers jobseekers a two-week electrical industry certification. Participants become eligible for free OSHA 30 certification. The program is completed in two weeks and provides foundational learning classes such as Intro to Pipeline Safety, Intro to the Power Industry, Alternative Energy and Fall Safety Protection. Additionally, HAUL provides a complimentary technical career program for Houstonians interested in pursuing a rewarding IT career.
Don't let the challenges of pursuing an education discourage you. Houston Back on Track's partners are ready to support you from the start. If you're ready, we encourage you to take the first step and visit the Houston Back on Track website, where we will connect you with one of our partners that will work with you to set goals, map out a career path and provide the tools to make it happen.
